We all know, or are aware of, a former player that has struggled beyond the game. Whether it be drugs, alcohol, gambling, employment, financial or relationship issues. These issues can lead to mental health and wellbeing problems and can develop further into depression,
anxiety and sadly suicide.
FIFTHQTR Foundation understands, cares and has empathy for the challenges and issues that confront past players and their families. We are here to help you when you don’t know where to turn. We can provide early intervention before problems can develop into mental health and wellbeing issues.
Your confidentiality is assured and you will be dealing with people that understand you – no matter the issue. The only qualification is that you have been on a senior AFL or AFLW list.
The care and wellbeing of past players is at the core of what we do. We will provide peer support management (case study manager) to work with you to develop an individual plan that can include:
- Facilitating access to medical support to past players who are impacted by
concussion and other health and wellbeing challenges.
- Facilitating support access parents, partners and family of former players who
are dealing with mental health and wellbeing challenges.
- Facilitating support access to past players to enable successful transition to life
beyond football, with a focus on:
- Skills training
- Employment pathways
- Financial advice
Our only agenda is about you. If you need support and want to discuss what help we can offer you, simply contact FIFTHQTR Foundation through the contact us section of this website for a confidential conversation.
